Which actor starred as 'Dr. King Schultz' in Django Unchained?

Christoph Waltz starred as Dr. King Schultz in Django Unchained.

Schultz is a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter who encounters Django Freeman in Texas in 1858. He needs Django to identify the Brittle brothers, wanted for their crimes, and offers him freedom in exchange for help tracking them down. Their partnership becomes the film’s central relationship as Django learns bounty hunting and searches for his enslaved wife, Broomhilda.

The role was written specifically for Waltz by Quentin Tarantino. Waltz had already won an Academy Award for playing Hans Landa in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, and his performance as Schultz earned him a second Best Supporting Actor Oscar. That repeat success helped make Schultz one of the most recognizable characters in Tarantino’s Western-inspired film.

A common mix-up is confusing Waltz with Jamie Foxx, who played Django, or Leonardo DiCaprio, who played plantation owner Calvin J. Candie. Samuel L. Jackson portrayed Candie’s elderly house slave, Stephen.
