Which actor provides the voice of Luigi in Pixar’s Cars?
Answer
Tony Shalhoub
Answer
Tony Shalhoub
Tony Shalhoub provides the English-language voice of Luigi in Pixar’s Cars.
Luigi is a yellow Fiat 500 who owns Luigi’s Casa Della Tires in Radiator Springs. He is an enthusiastic Ferrari fan and becomes especially excited when Michael Schumacher visits the town near the end of the film. Luigi’s friendship with Guido, his small blue forklift assistant, gives the tire shop much of its comic energy.
Shalhoub was already widely known for playing Adrian Monk in the television series Monk. His performance as Luigi uses an Italian accent and a passionate, rapid style that distinguishes the character from the other residents. In the film’s English cast, Luigi is one of several characters whose humor depends on a strong automotive identity.
John Ratzenberger voices Mack, the truck transporting McQueen, while George Carlin voices Fillmore, Radiator Springs’ Volkswagen bus. Michael Wallis, a Route 66 historian, voices Sheriff. These casting facts often cause confusion because all four actors are associated with important supporting characters.
