Scott Patterson portrays Luke Danes on “Gilmore Girls.”

Patterson played Luke from the series’ premiere in 2000 through its original run, which ended in 2007. Luke is the owner of Luke’s Diner in Stars Hollow, Connecticut, and becomes one of Lorelai Gilmore’s closest friends and eventual romantic partners. His practical, sometimes gruff personality contrasts with Lorelai’s rapid-fire humor and impulsive style.

Before becoming widely known for the role, Patterson worked as a professional baseball player and later moved into acting. His film debut came in “Intent to Kill” in 1992, and his “Gilmore Girls” role became his breakthrough television part. He later played Agent Peter Strahm in “Saw IV” and “Saw V,” among other roles.

Viewers sometimes confuse the show’s male cast because Jared Padalecki played Rory’s first serious boyfriend, Dean Forester, while Matt Czuchry played Logan Huntzberger.
