Which actor portrayed Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I?

The story behind the answer

Ray Park portrayed Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Park, a British actor and martial artist, played the physically demanding role in the 1999 film, performing Maul’s acrobatics and lightsaber combat. His athletic performance helped make the silent Sith villain one of the film’s most visually memorable characters.

Although Park portrayed Maul on screen, he did not provide the character’s speaking voice in The Phantom Menace. Actor Peter Serafinowicz dubbed Maul’s dialogue. This distinction explains why some quiz answers confuse Park with voice actors associated with the character.

Park later reprised the physical role in Solo: A Star Wars Story and performed motion-capture work for The Clone Wars. Sam Witwer provided Maul’s voice in those later appearances, including Solo.
