Which actor plays the title character in the 2014 film 'John Wick'?

Keanu Reeves plays the title character, John Wick, in the 2014 film John Wick. Wick is introduced as a retired legendary hitman who is grieving the recent death of his wife, Helen.

Helen’s final gift is a beagle puppy named Daisy, intended to help John cope with his loss. When Iosef Tarasov and his associates break into Wick’s home, kill Daisy, and steal his 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, they unknowingly trigger his return to the criminal underworld. The film’s revenge story follows Wick as he confronts Iosef, Iosef’s father Viggo, and their organization.

Reeves’ performance helped define the character’s restrained personality, precise physicality, and distinctive gun-fu fighting style. He trained extensively in firearms, martial arts, and tactical movement for the role. Directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, both experienced stunt professionals, emphasized long, clearly choreographed action sequences.

A frequent mix-up is assuming John Wick is the actor’s real name or confusing the character with another action-film assassin. Reeves is the performer; Wick is the fictional hitman created by screenwriter Derek Kolstad.
