In “John Wick,” John Wick’s late wife gives him a beagle puppy named Daisy shortly before her death.
The puppy is intended to help Wick cope with his grief and gives him a final emotional connection to Helen. Daisy’s presence briefly draws him back toward ordinary domestic life after years as a feared assassin. When Daisy is killed during the home invasion, the loss becomes the immediate trigger for Wick’s return to the criminal underworld.
Daisy therefore represents more than a pet: she is Helen’s last gift and a symbol of the peaceful life Wick hoped to preserve. The film’s emotional logic depends on that connection, which is why the puppy’s death carries such enormous weight in the plot.
Viewers sometimes remember the dog only as “the puppy” or confuse Daisy with later animals in the franchise. The dog who portrays Daisy was a beagle puppy named Andy, but Daisy is the character’s name in the story.
