Which actor plays Odysseus in the 2026 film The Odyssey?

Matt Damon plays Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey. The character is the king of Ithaca and the central hero of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, which follows his difficult journey home after the Trojan War.

Damon is one of the film’s principal stars, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. The casting is sometimes confused because several major actors portray characters from the same mythological world, including Holland as Telemachus and Hathaway as Penelope.

Odysseus is traditionally known for his intelligence, tactical skill, and ability to survive encounters with gods, monsters, and hostile peoples. Nolan’s film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in July 2026 and is being presented as a large-scale mythic action epic.
