Which actor plays Frank Abagnale Sr. in Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can?

Christopher Walken plays Frank Abagnale Sr. in Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can.

Frank Abagnale Sr. is the father of Frank Abagnale Jr., the young con artist portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. The father is a respected businessman whose financial troubles and separation from his wife deeply affect his son.

Walken’s performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. His scenes with DiCaprio give the film an emotional center that extends beyond the pursuit between Frank Jr. and FBI agent Carl Hanratty.

Catch Me If You Can was released in 2002 and was inspired by the published memoir of the real Frank Abagnale Jr. Tom Hanks plays the FBI agent, while Amy Adams plays Brenda Strong. The film dramatizes Abagnale’s claims of passing himself off as a pilot, doctor, and lawyer.
