Which actor plays Dr. Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

The story behind the answer

Peter Dinklage plays Dr. Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Trask is a military scientist who develops the Sentinel program, designed to identify and eliminate mutants. His research becomes the catalyst for the dystopian future shown in the film, where Sentinels have turned against both mutants and many humans.

The movie combines performers and characters from the original trilogy with younger versions from X-Men: First Class. Dinklage’s Trask is therefore placed alongside James McAvoy’s young Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender’s young Erik Lehnsherr, and Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.

Bryan Singer directed the film, which was released in 2014. Its central plot sends Wolverine’s consciousness back to 1973 so that the X-Men can change the event that leads to the Sentinel-dominated future. The film is notable for merging the franchise’s two major casts and altering its continuity.
