Which actor played the Wolf in the 2014 film Into the Woods?

Johnny Depp played the Wolf in the 2014 film Into the Woods. His performance turns the familiar fairy-tale predator into a stylish, unsettling character in Stephen Sondheim's darker musical world.

The film adapts Sondheim and James Lapine's 1987 Broadway musical, which intertwines stories from Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. Depp's Wolf appears in the Little Red Riding Hood storyline, where his polished charm disguises a predatory nature. The role is deliberately theatrical rather than a realistic animal portrayal.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood and Depp developed a look influenced by Tex Avery cartoons, including a zoot suit and fedora. Viewers sometimes confuse Depp's role with Chris Pine or Billy Magnussen, but both played princes: Pine was Cinderella's Prince, while Magnussen was Rapunzel's Prince. James Corden played the Baker.
