Which actor played the title character in Edward Scissorhands (1990)?

Johnny Depp played the title character in Edward Scissorhands (1990).

The film presents Edward as an artificial man created by an inventor who dies before replacing Edward’s temporary scissor hands with ordinary ones. Edward is taken into a suburban community, where his unusual appearance and talents make him both a curiosity and an outsider.

Directed by Tim Burton, the film marked one of Depp’s early major collaborations with Burton. Depp’s performance relies heavily on physical expression because Edward speaks relatively little, using posture, gestures, and facial reactions to convey his character’s innocence and isolation.

Winona Ryder plays Kim Boggs, the young woman with whom Edward falls in love, but she is not the title character. Vincent Price appears as the inventor, in one of his final major film roles.
