Which actor played the Lone Gunman Richard 'Ringo' Langly?

The story behind the answer

Dean Haglund played the Lone Gunman Richard “Ringo” Langly.

Langly is one of the three Lone Gunmen, a group of conspiracy theorists, computer experts, and government-watchers who frequently assist Fox Mulder. The other two members are Melvin Frohike, played by Tom Braidwood, and John Fitzgerald Byers, played by Bruce Harwood. Together, they publish investigative material and help Mulder pursue cases outside official FBI channels.

Langly is distinguished by his long blond hair, thick black glasses, punk and heavy-metal shirts, and deep interest in computers, hacking, and programming. He is particularly associated with the Ramones and is often portrayed as the most paranoid and confrontational member of the trio.

The Lone Gunmen first appeared in the season-one episode “E.B.E.” Their popularity led to the 2001 spin-off series The Lone Gunmen, in which Haglund again played Langly. Nicholas Lea played Alex Krycek, while Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood played the other two Lone Gunmen.
