Which actor played Sayid Jarrah in the television series Lost?
Answer
Naveen Andrews
Answer
Naveen Andrews
Naveen Andrews played Sayid Jarrah in the television series Lost. Sayid is an Iraqi communications officer and former Republican Guard member who becomes one of the crash survivors’ most capable technicians and investigators.
Andrews’s performance helped give Sayid a complex role within the ensemble. The character’s military background made him valuable during emergencies, but his history of torture and his struggle with violence created continuing moral conflicts. Lost revealed important parts of Sayid’s past through flashbacks, gradually showing how his relationships and wartime experiences shaped him.
Naveen Andrews was born in London to Indian immigrant parents and had already worked in British film and television before joining Lost. Sayid appeared from the pilot onward and remained a principal character throughout the series. The role made Andrews internationally recognizable, although his career also includes films and later television projects outside Lost.
