Which actor played Newt Scamander in the screenplay films written by J.K. Rowling?

The story behind the answer

Eddie Redmayne played Newt Scamander in the screenplay films written by J.K. Rowling.

Redmayne portrays Newton “Newt” Scamander, a British magizoologist and the central character of the Fantastic Beasts film series. The films are set decades before the main Harry Potter story and follow Newt as he encounters magical creatures and becomes involved in conflicts within the wizarding world.

Rowling wrote the screenplays for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Redmayne appears as Newt in all three released films. The first film was released in 2016, followed by sequels in 2018 and 2022.

Redmayne is sometimes confused with Jude Law in discussions of the series because Law plays a younger Albus Dumbledore. Colin Farrell also appears in the first film as Graves, while Daniel Radcliffe plays Harry Potter in the earlier film series.
