Which fictional Hogwarts house is associated with the values of courage and bravery?

The story behind the answer

In J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Gryffindor is the Hogwarts house associated with courage and bravery. The house was founded by Godric Gryffindor, one of Hogwarts’ four founders.

The Sorting Hat places students into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are all Gryffindor students, although each character has qualities that overlap with other houses.

Gryffindor’s colours are scarlet and gold, and its emblem is a lion. The house is often associated with daring and chivalry, but the books also show that bravery can involve difficult choices rather than simply fearlessness. This distinguishes Gryffindor from Ravenclaw’s emphasis on learning and Slytherin’s ambition.
