Which actor played Harry Potter in the eight-film Harry Potter series?

The story behind the answer

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in the eight-film Harry Potter series.

Radcliffe was cast as Harry for the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, released in 2001. He continued in the role through all eight films, with the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, arriving in 2011.

Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Emma Watson played Hermione Granger. Together, the three actors formed the central trio of the film series. Radcliffe’s performance therefore belongs to the films, while the original novels were written by J.K. Rowling.

The adaptation divided the final novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, into two films. That decision produced eight movies from seven books. Radcliffe later worked in theatre, television, and film, including the stage production Equus and the film The Woman in Black.
