Which 2026 Lollapalooza act formed on the Isle of Wight in 2019?

The story behind the answer

2026 Lollapalooza act Wet Leg formed on the Isle of Wight in 2019.

Wet Leg is an English indie rock band founded by Isle of Wight natives Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. The pair had known each other for years before forming the band, initially treating the project as a creative side venture rather than a guaranteed route to a major music career.

Their breakthrough came with “Chaise Longue,” a dryly funny, minimalist single released in 2021. Its playful lyrics, repetitive guitar hook and deadpan delivery quickly attracted attention, helping Wet Leg move from a local Isle of Wight project to an international touring act. The band later signed with Domino Recording Company.

Wet Leg’s self-titled debut album arrived in 2022 and won the Mercury Prize, one of the United Kingdom’s leading album awards. The group’s Isle of Wight origin is central to its story, but the band is more precisely described as English indie rock rather than as a separate Isle of Wight genre. MUNA, Geese and Wolf Alice are also festival-friendly alternative acts, but none formed on the Isle of Wight in 2019.
