Pandora is the 2019 television series that follows Jax in a 2199 space setting.
The science-fiction series premiered on The CW in July 2019. Its central character, Jacqueline “Jax” Zhou, travels to a space academy after a personal loss and becomes involved in questions about identity, power, and the future of humanity. The title invokes Pandora’s myth while placing the story in a distant futuristic setting.
The series was created by Mark A. Altman and Steve Kriozere. Priscilla Quintana played Jax, with Oliver Dench, Ben Radcliffe, and other actors in major roles. Pandora ran for two seasons, with its second season airing in 2020.
The title should not be confused with The Expanse, Another Life, or Nightflyers, which are separate science-fiction television series. Nor is the show an adaptation of the ancient Greek myth. It uses Pandora as a thematic and fictional name within an original space-adventure story.
