Which 2019 Sesame Street TV special was hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt?
Answer
Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration
The 2019 Sesame Street TV special hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt was Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The musical special commemorated five decades of Sesame Street and premiered on HBO on November 9, 2019, before airing on PBS on November 17. Gordon-Levitt appears in the story as Cookie Monster arrives on Sesame Street and discovers that the famous street sign is missing.
The celebration brought together current and former cast members and featured returning characters, including Kermit the Frog. Guest performers included Norah Jones, Patti LaBelle, Whoopi Goldberg, Nile Rodgers, Solange Knowles, Meghan Trainor, and Elvis Costello.
It is easy to confuse the title with other Sesame Street specials. The Power of We is a later special focused on racial justice, When You Wish Upon a Pickle is an Elmo-centered special, and Elmo’s Christmas Countdown is a holiday production.
