The 2019 Disney animated musical sequel featuring “Into the Unknown” is Frozen II.
Frozen II continues the story of sisters Elsa and Anna three years after the events of Frozen. Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling her and travels with Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf toward an enchanted forest. Their journey reveals the history of Arendelle and helps Elsa understand the origin of her powers.
Idina Menzel performs “Into the Unknown” as Elsa, with AURORA providing the mysterious vocal response. The song captures Elsa’s hesitation and growing need to investigate the supernatural call. It was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who also wrote the songs for the first Frozen film.
The song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It is often confused with “Let It Go,” which belongs to the 2013 original film, while “Show Yourself” is another major Elsa song from the sequel. Frozen II was released in the United States on November 22, 2019.
