The 2012 documentary film about Bob Marley directed by Kevin Macdonald is Marley.
The film traces Marley’s life, music, Rastafarian faith, family, political importance, and international career. It was made with cooperation from members of Marley’s family and includes archival footage, interviews, and performances.
Kevin Macdonald is a Scottish filmmaker known for documentaries and feature films. His earlier documentary work included One Day in September, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Marley is sometimes confused with fictionalized films about Jamaican music, especially The Harder They Come. The Harder They Come is a 1972 Jamaican drama starring Jimmy Cliff; it is not a Bob Marley biographical documentary.
