The 2007 Bungie video game that is the third installment in the Halo series is Halo 3.
Halo 3 continues the story of Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced human supersoldier, during humanity’s war against the Covenant and the parasitic Flood. It follows Halo: Combat Evolved, released in 2001, and Halo 2, released in 2004. The game was designed as the conclusion to the original trilogy’s main story arc.
Developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios, Halo 3 launched for Xbox 360 in September 2007. Alongside its campaign, it became especially notable for its online multiplayer features. These included saved gameplay films, file sharing, and Forge, a map-editing tool that let players modify multiplayer environments. Halo: Reach is sometimes mistaken for the third main game because it was also developed by Bungie, but it is a prequel set before the events of the original Halo. Halo 3 is the numbered third entry.
