Which 2005 fantasy film was the first in the 'Chronicles of Narnia' series?

The 2005 fantasy film that began The Chronicles of Narnia film series is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Directed by Andrew Adamson, the film adapts C. S. Lewis's 1950 novel of the same name. It follows four Pevensie siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy—who are evacuated from London during the Blitz. Lucy discovers that an ordinary wardrobe leads to Narnia, a world trapped in winter under the rule of the White Witch, Jadis.

The children join Aslan, the talking lion and rightful king of Narnia, in the struggle to restore the kingdom. The film was the first theatrical entry in the film series, followed by Prince Caspian in 2008 and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.

The title can cause confusion because the book is the first published Narnia story but the second in the series' internal chronology. The 2005 film is nevertheless the first Narnia film released in the modern series. It premiered in December 2005, earned more than $745 million worldwide, and won the Academy Award for Best Makeup.
