The 1999 David Fincher film starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton is Fight Club. Pitt plays the charismatic soap salesman Tyler Durden, while Norton plays the unnamed narrator at the centre of the story.
The film was adapted by screenwriter Jim Uhls from Chuck Palahniuk’s 1996 novel. It also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singer. Its story explores alienation, consumer culture, masculinity, and the desire to escape an emotionally numb everyday life.
Fight Club premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on September 10, 1999, and opened in the United States on October 15. Although its initial theatrical performance and critical response were mixed, home-video audiences helped turn it into a major cult film.
The easiest mix-up is Se7en, another David Fincher film that also stars Brad Pitt, but Edward Norton is not in it. Panic Room and The Game are also Fincher films, yet neither pairs Pitt and Norton. Fight Club is the only answer that matches the year, director, and both actors.
