Which 1994 album by The Notorious B.I.G. was his studio debut?
Answer
Ready to Die
Answer
Ready to Die
The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 studio debut was titled Ready to Die.
Released on September 13, 1994, by Bad Boy Records, Ready to Die was the only studio album released during Biggie’s lifetime. It combines autobiographical storytelling, dark humor, street narratives, and reflections on mortality.
The album includes “Juicy,” “Big Poppa,” and “One More Chance.” “Juicy” drew on Mtume’s “Juicy Fruit” and became one of the defining crossover singles of 1990s hip hop. The album was later certified six-times platinum by the RIAA.
Life After Death was released in 1997, shortly after Biggie’s death, and is therefore not the debut. Born Again was a posthumous album released in 1999, while Ready to Die established his reputation as one of New York’s leading lyricists.
