Which 1993 Wu-Tang Clan debut album features the song “Protect Ya Neck”?

The story behind the answer

The Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 debut album featuring “Protect Ya Neck” is Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

The album was released by Loud Records on November 9, 1993. Its title combines the group’s martial-arts imagery with the 36 chambers associated with the Shaolin tradition. RZA produced the album, creating a raw sound from stark drum loops, soul samples, dialogue, and kung-fu-film references.

“Protect Ya Neck” was first issued as an independent single in 1992 and introduced several members of the Staten Island-based collective. The album also contains “C.R.E.A.M.,” “Method Man,” and “Can It Be All So Simple.”

The title is often shortened to 36 Chambers, but the full canonical title is Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). It should not be confused with Wu-Tang Forever, the group’s 1997 second album.
