Which 1983 laserdisc arcade game, created by Don Bluth, starred the knight Dirk the Daring?

The story behind the answer

The 1983 laserdisc arcade game created by Don Bluth and starring the knight Dirk the Daring is Dragon's Lair.

Cinematographer and animator Don Bluth produced the game's animated sequences after leaving Disney. Players controlled Dirk through timed joystick and button inputs, choosing actions as brief scenes played from a laserdisc. The result looked more like an interactive cartoon than conventional sprite-based arcade games.

Dragon's Lair was released by Cinematronics in June 1983 and became notable for its high-quality animation, although its strict timing made it difficult and expensive to play. It helped demonstrate the appeal of full-motion video in arcades during the early 1980s.

A common mix-up is Space Ace, another Don Bluth laserdisc game released in 1984. Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp followed in 1991 and again featured Dirk, but it was not the original game.
