Which 1978 disco song by Yvonne Elliman was featured in the film Saturday Night Fever?
Answer
If I Can't Have You
Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You” was featured in the 1978 film Saturday Night Fever.
The song was written by the Bee Gees and produced by Robert Stigwood, Albhy Galuten, and the Bee Gees. Elliman’s recording appeared on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and became a number-one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1978.
The Bee Gees also recorded their own version, but Elliman’s version was the one used as the successful single associated with the soundtrack. That distinction sometimes causes confusion because several songs on the album were written or performed by the Gibb brothers.
Saturday Night Fever helped turn disco into a worldwide commercial phenomenon. Its soundtrack combined Bee Gees recordings with songs by other performers, including Tavares, Kool & the Gang, and the Trammps.
