The Bee Gees’ 1978 song “Night Fever” became the group’s third consecutive US number-one single.
The song was written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb and produced by the Bee Gees with Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. It appeared on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, the film that turned the group’s disco material into a worldwide phenomenon.
“Night Fever” followed “How Deep Is Your Love” and “Stayin’ Alive” to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100. Its run at number one helped make the Bee Gees one of the defining chart acts of the late 1970s.
A common mix-up is to identify “Stayin’ Alive” as the third consecutive number one. It was actually the second in the sequence; “Night Fever” completed the trio. The song also topped charts in several other countries.
