Olivia Newton-John’s 1978 album containing the disco-influenced single “A Little More Love” was Totally Hot.
Totally Hot marked a deliberate shift in Newton-John’s image and sound after her success in the film Grease. The album used more contemporary pop, rock, and disco production, while its cover and styling presented a tougher, more adult image. “A Little More Love” became its most successful single and was written by John Farrar, Newton-John’s longtime producer and collaborator.
The album reached number 30 on the US Billboard 200, and “A Little More Love” reached the top 10 in the United States. The release showed how performers associated with country-pop or musical films were adapting to the dance-oriented commercial market of the late 1970s.
It is often confused with Newton-John’s later album Physical, released in 1981. Physical contains the title hit “Physical,” but Totally Hot is the 1978 album connected with “A Little More Love.”
