Which 1967 music festival was organized by John Phillips, Lou Adler, and Alan Pariser?

The story behind the answer

The 1967 music festival organized by John Phillips, Lou Adler, and Alan Pariser was the Monterey Pop Festival.

Held from June 16 to 18, 1967, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in California, the festival brought together major rock, pop, soul, and folk performers. Its lineup included Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, and Ravi Shankar.

The organizers combined Phillips’s music-industry connections, Adler’s production experience, and Pariser’s promotional work. The event was created as a benefit and helped establish the Monterey area as an important destination for popular music.

Monterey is sometimes confused with Woodstock, which took place two years later in New York State. Monterey was particularly important because it gave several artists their first major American exposure and became a defining event of the 1967 Summer of Love.
