Which 1945 declaration demanded Japan's surrender before the atomic bombings and Soviet entry into the war?

The story behind the answer

The Potsdam Declaration demanded Japan's surrender before the atomic bombings and Soviet entry into the war.

The United States, the United Kingdom, and China issued the declaration on July 26, 1945, during the Potsdam Conference. It called for the unconditional surrender of Japan's armed forces and warned of “prompt and utter destruction” if Japan refused.

The declaration outlined broad Allied aims, including the elimination of militarism, occupation of designated Japanese territory, disarmament, and the establishment of a peaceful government. It did not initially include the Soviet Union as a signatory because the Soviet Union was still formally neutral toward Japan at that moment.

Japan did not immediately accept the ultimatum. After the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Soviet declaration of war, Japan notified the Allies that it accepted the terms, subject to preserving the emperor's position.
