Which 1936 Georgia O'Keeffe painting shows a large white flower with a yellow center?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's 1936 painting Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 shows a large white flower with a yellow center.

The work depicts a jimson weed, also called Datura, a plant that grew near O'Keeffe's home in New Mexico. She enlarged the flower dramatically so that its trumpet-shaped form fills nearly the entire canvas. This close-up approach is characteristic of her flower paintings, which turn familiar natural forms into monumental abstract-like compositions.

The painting became especially famous after selling at auction in 2014 for $44.4 million, including fees. That price made it the most expensive artwork by a female artist sold at auction at the time. The auction record should not be confused with the painting's date or title: the work was made in 1936, decades before the sale.
