Where was C.S. Lewis born on November 29, 1898?
Answer
Belfast
Answer
Belfast
C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast on November 29, 1898.
His full name was Clive Staples Lewis, and he was born into a Protestant family in what was then Ireland. His father, Albert James Lewis, worked as a solicitor, while his mother, Florence Augusta Lewis, was a mathematician’s daughter.
Lewis spent his early childhood in Belfast before moving to England for schooling. His birthplace is sometimes confused with Oxford, where he spent much of his professional life, or Kilns, the Oxford-area house where he later lived.
Belfast remained an important part of Lewis’s early identity. He developed a strong interest in mythology, literature, and invented worlds as a child, interests that later shaped both his literary criticism and The Chronicles of Narnia.
