Where is Thomas Edison buried?

The story behind the answer

Thomas Edison is buried at Glenmont in West Orange, New Jersey.

Edison died on October 18, 1931, at his home in West Orange. He was buried on the grounds of Glenmont, the estate where he had lived with his second wife, Mina Miller. Glenmont is now part of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.

The burial site is close to Edison’s West Orange laboratory complex, which he opened in 1887. The park preserves both the home and the laboratory buildings, allowing visitors to see the domestic and industrial settings associated with the later part of Edison’s career.

Glenmont is not the same place as Menlo Park. Menlo Park was Edison’s earlier laboratory site, established in 1876, while Glenmont was his West Orange home. Edison’s grave is also not in his Ohio birthplace, Milan.
