Where is the signed Declaration of Independence displayed during the America250 era?
Answer
National Archives
Answer
National Archives
The signed Declaration of Independence is displayed at the National Archives during the America250 era.
The National Archives Building in Washington, D.C., houses the parchment Declaration along with the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These documents are displayed in the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom.
The document’s location is sometimes confused with Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Independence Hall was the place where the Second Continental Congress met and where the Declaration was adopted, but the signed parchment is preserved and displayed in Washington.
The Library of Congress also holds important Declaration-related materials, including an early draft associated with Jefferson and printed copies. Those holdings are historically significant, but they are not the signed engrossed parchment displayed by the National Archives.
