Where is the band Golden Earring originally from?

The story behind the answer

The band Golden Earring originally came from the Netherlands. It was formed in 1961 in The Hague, where teenagers George Kooymans and Rinus Gerritsen began playing together under the name The Tornados.

The group later became known as The Golden Earrings and eventually shortened its name to Golden Earring. It became one of the Netherlands’ best-known rock acts, blending hard rock, blues rock, and progressive influences.

Golden Earring achieved international success with “Radar Love,” released in 1973, and later with “Twilight Zone” in 1982. A common mix-up is to identify the band as British or American because its biggest English-language hits were widely played in those markets. Its origin, however, is firmly Dutch, specifically The Hague.
