Where does the band Creed hail from?

The story behind the answer

The band Creed hails from Florida, specifically Tallahassee. Vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti began developing the band there in the 1990s before Creed became one of the leading post-grunge acts of the following decade.

Creed formed in 1994 and built its early lineup around Stapp, Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Their debut album, "My Own Prison," first appeared independently in 1997 and was later reissued after the group signed with Wind-up Records. Its success helped launch the band nationally.

The group reached its commercial peak with albums such as "Human Clay" and "Weathered." Songs including "Higher," "With Arms Wide Open," and "My Sacrifice" made Creed a major force in late-1990s and early-2000s rock. "Human Clay" eventually received diamond certification in the United States.

Some listeners associate Creed with Christian rock because of Scott Stapp's spiritual lyrics and background, but the band is generally classified as post-grunge, hard rock, or alternative metal. Creed's Florida origin refers to its formation in Tallahassee, not to every member's birthplace.
