Answer
November 13, 2007
The first Assassin's Creed video game was released in North America on November 13, 2007.
Ubisoft developed the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Windows version following in April 2008. It introduced players to Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, a Syrian Assassin operating during the Third Crusade in 1191. The game combined stealth, parkour, historical cities, and a science-fiction framing story involving the Animus.
The North American date is sometimes confused with other regional releases. Assassin's Creed reached Europe on November 16, 2007, only three days later. The title also began a major franchise whose numbered sequels expanded the historical settings from the Crusades to Renaissance Italy and beyond. Its modern-day storyline established Desmond Miles as the person reliving ancestral memories through the Animus.
