J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published on 21 July 2007. It was the seventh and concluding book in the original series.
The publication was a major international event. Fans queued at bookshops, and the novel was released simultaneously in many markets at midnight local time. Its story follows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they search for Horcruxes while Voldemort controls much of the wizarding world.
The date is sometimes confused with 31 July, Harry Potter’s fictional birthday and Rowling’s real birthday. It is also separate from the release dates of the film adaptations: the book arrived in 2007, while the film version was split into two parts released in 2010 and 2011.
