Harry Potter’s birthday in the Harry Potter book series is 31 July.
Harry was born on 31 July 1980, according to the series’ official chronology. His birthday is significant because it connects him to the prophecy concerning a child born as the seventh month dies and to Lord Voldemort’s decision to attack the Potter family.
Harry’s birthday also has an important place in the opening novel. The Dursleys try to ignore it while taking him to a remote location, but Hagrid arrives and tells Harry that he is a wizard. Hagrid also gives him a birthday cake.
Readers sometimes confuse Harry’s birthday with the date of Voldemort’s first attack on the Potter home or with Halloween, when Harry’s parents were killed. Those events are related to Harry’s early life, but his birthday is 31 July.
