What year was the McFlurry introduced?

The story behind the answer

The McFlurry was introduced in 1995. It was created by Canadian McDonald’s franchisee Ron McLellan in Bathurst, New Brunswick, and the first version was Oreo-flavored.

The dessert was first sold on June 7, 1995. After its success in Bathurst, McDonald’s expanded it to Toronto locations and then tested it in selected parts of the United States in 1997. By March 1998, it was available throughout the United States and Canada.

A common mix-up is answering 1997, which refers to the McFlurry’s U.S. test-market introduction rather than its original launch. The dessert combines McDonald’s soft-serve ice cream with crushed cookies, candy pieces, or other toppings mixed into the cup.
