What year was Se7en released?
Answer
1995
Answer
1995
Se7en was released in 1995. David Fincher’s crime thriller premiered in the United States on September 22, 1995, under the stylized title Se7en, though the film is also commonly written as Seven.
The movie follows veteran detective William Somerset and newly transferred detective David Mills as they investigate murders modeled on the seven deadly sins. Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the screenplay after being influenced by his experiences in late-1980s New York, particularly the city’s crime, drug abuse, and urban bleakness.
Se7en was Fincher’s second feature film after Alien 3 and helped re-establish his career after that difficult production. Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kevin Spacey starred. The film had a production budget of roughly $33–34 million but earned about $327 million worldwide, making it one of 1995’s major sleeper hits.
A common mix-up is confusing its release year with later Fincher films such as Fight Club, released in 1999, or Zodiac, released in 2007. Se7en’s distinctive opening credits, grim atmosphere, and shocking ending later became especially influential in thriller filmmaking.
