What year was Finding Nemo released?

The story behind the answer

Finding Nemo was released in 2003.

Produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, the film premiered in theaters on May 30, 2003, in the United States. Andrew Stanton directed it, co-directing with Lee Unkrich, and the story follows Marlin, a clownfish searching across the ocean for his son Nemo.

The year can be confused with 2004 because Finding Nemo received several major awards during the 2004 awards season, including its Academy Award win. It was also re-released in 3D in 2012, nearly a decade after its original theatrical debut.

Finding Nemo became one of Pixar’s defining early hits. Its success led to a sequel, Finding Dory, released in 2016, which revisited Dory and introduced a new search story centered on her own family.
