What year was Bob Dylan born?
Answer
1941
Answer
1941
Bob Dylan was born in 1941.
He was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. Although Duluth is his birthplace, he grew up mainly in nearby Hibbing, where his family moved when he was young. His early exposure to folk, blues, country, and rock music helped shape the artist he would become.
As a teenager, Zimmerman performed in several bands and developed a strong interest in folk music, especially the work of Woody Guthrie. He moved to New York City in 1961, adopted the professional name Bob Dylan, and soon became part of the Greenwich Village folk scene.
The year 1941 is sometimes confused with 1942 because Dylan's public career began in the early 1960s, when he was still only 20 or 21. His debut album, Bob Dylan, arrived in 1962. More than five decades later, he received the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature.
