The DCOM The Cheetah Girls 2 premiered in 2006.
Disney Channel premiered the sequel on August 25, 2006. Directed by Kenny Ortega, the film follows Galleria, Chanel, Dorinda, and Aqua as they travel from New York City to Barcelona, Spain, hoping to compete in a music contest and advance their dreams of pop stardom.
The movie was the second entry in The Cheetah Girls film series, following the 2003 original and preceding The Cheetah Girls: One World in 2008. Raven-Symoné, Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan, and Kiely Williams returned as the quartet, while Spanish singer Belinda played Marisol Durán.
The year can be confused with the film's soundtrack, which was released on August 15, 2006, ten days before the movie premiere. The sequel also became a major ratings success, attracting more than 8.1 million viewers and briefly setting a Disney Channel movie viewing record.
