What year did the Apple Watch first go on sale?

The story behind the answer

The Apple Watch first went on sale in 2015.

Apple unveiled its first smartwatch in September 2014, presenting it as both a technology product and a fashion accessory. Pre-orders began on April 10, 2015, and the official release followed on April 24, 2015. The launch included Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and the premium Apple Watch Edition models.

The initial retail experience differed from a typical iPhone launch. Customers often needed appointments for demonstrations, fitting, and ordering, and many Apple Stores did not initially have watches available for walk-in purchase. The first public retail display was at Colette, a fashion boutique in Paris.

The year 2015 is sometimes confused with 2014 because the watch was announced then. It is also distinct from 2016, when Apple introduced the second-generation Apple Watch, including Series 1 and Series 2 models.
