What year did Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Schindler’s List premiere?

The story behind the answer

Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Schindler’s List premiered in 1993.

The film adapts Thomas Keneally’s 1982 novel Schindler’s Ark and recounts how German industrialist Oskar Schindler helped save Jewish workers during the Holocaust. Liam Neeson portrays Schindler, while Ben Kingsley plays his accountant Itzhak Stern and Ralph Fiennes plays SS officer Amon Göth.

Schindler’s List was released in December 1993 and became one of Spielberg’s most acclaimed films. It won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and was also recognized for Janusz Kamiński’s cinematography and John Williams’s score.

The film is primarily shot in black and white, with a few carefully chosen color images. Its release year can be confused with Jurassic Park, another Spielberg film released in 1993, but the two movies are very different in subject and style.
