Bob Dylan released his album "Nashville Skyline" in 1969.
Nashville Skyline, Dylan's ninth studio album, was released by Columbia Records on April 9, 1969. The record marked a striking shift from the dense, politically charged sound associated with some of his mid-1960s work toward a warm, straightforward country style.
Recorded in Nashville with prominent session musicians, the album features tracks such as "Lay Lady Lay," "Country Pie," and "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You." Johnny Cash also appears on a duet version of "Girl from the North Country," giving the album a notable meeting between two major American musical voices.
Listeners sometimes confuse 1969 with 1968 because several recording sessions took place around the turn of the decade. Dylan began recording material in Nashville in February 1969, but the album itself was released that April. It followed John Wesley Harding, released in 1967, and preceded Self Portrait, released in 1970.
