What year did Assassin's Creed II first launch?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed II first launched in 2009.

Ubisoft released the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2009. A Windows version followed in March 2010, while a Mac OS X version arrived later in 2010. The sequel expanded the original game's exploration, combat, customization, and historical storytelling.

Assassin's Creed II begins the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Florentine nobleman who becomes an Assassin after his family is betrayed. Its principal historical settings include Italian cities and regions such as Florence, Venice, Tuscany, and Forlì.

The game is often grouped with Brotherhood and Revelations as the “Ezio trilogy.” Its 2009 release date is separate from the year 2007, when the first Assassin's Creed game established the franchise.
